Standards & quality assurance

Consistent, high quality practice across all screening venues is fundamental to the success of the NCSP in achieving its aim of preventing and controlling chlamydia infection. The NCSP Core Requirements include a set of quality standards that programmes should meet and which should be monitored locally. The NCSP carries out regular Quality Assurance audits and surveys to better understand which standards are being met, to support programmes in driving improvement and inform new or revised guidance.

NCSP Audits and Survey schedule:

2012/13 Q1 - Survey on equity of access – this is currently underway and will be closing on 4 May 2012.

2012/13 Q2 - There is no new national audit or survey planned

2012/13 Q4 - Audit of Partner Notification processes

NCSP Guidance for commissioners and providers

Be proactive
The National Chlamydia Screening Programme (NCSP) is a control and prevention programme targeted at the highest risk group for chlamydia infection in England, young people under 25 who are sexually active.

Chlamydia is often asymptomatic so a large proportion of cases remain undiagnosed, but infection can be diagnosed easily (young people can do the test themselves), and treated effectively.
